Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school. I want to tell my kids how proud I am of them for always trying very hard to be successful in school and for being kind, and nice to others...they make me proud. So today your just going to have to take a little bragging from their proud mother.

Jacob is now officially a 3rd grader. This is Jacob and his teacher Mrs. Picinich, she is retiring as of today after teaching for 40 years. Mrs. Picinich told me that Jacob is her #1 speller in the classroom, he also averages reading 2 years above grade level. Emily has been told by several different girls in his grade that almost every girl in his grade has a crush on him. (Mike says this makes Jacob a stud:)

Emily was promoted from elementary school to middle school.....sniff...sniff.....my babies are growing up too fast on me. Emily received a special award today for academic achievement. The award comes from the white house and has the signatures of the U.S. Secretary of Education and the President of the U.S., also a letter from the Pres. and a little pin you can wear.

Emily was also in the student council and the circus club this year.

Tess, Emily, and Fiona

Em and Mikaela

Lindsey, Tess, Emily, and Mikaela

And last but not least......Kelsey is now an 8th grader. Kelsey also received awards for academics and soccer. Kelsey has maintained a 4.0 for the entire school year. This is her medal for being on the Honor Roll all year.

She was voted "most improved" for soccer. (She would not hold the trophy for a pic. because she says this award means that she "sucked".....we couldn't disagree more!)
Thanks for being such great kids.....we love you and are very proud of you!!!!!

Nehalem Beach

This weekend we went on a little camping trip down to Nehalem Beach on the Oregon Coast. It was the first time camping for Mike and the kids.

There were really big sand dunes in between the ocean and the camp site. They were a lot of work to climb over.

There were deer all over the place. We saw them several times each day. They didn't really seem to be very concerned with any of the people walking around. One night when I was walking to the rest room, one walked with me along the path only about 5 feet away.

The last night we were there, they came up and ate for about 30 min. at the camp site next to ours. The deer were Jacob's favorite thing about camping.

This was the first time Emily and Jacob had ever roasted marshmallows.

For our first time camping as a family,( I haven't been since high school) every thing went pretty smoothly. It didn't rain and the only thing I forgot to bring were matches, which we had a good laugh about. Luckily we were only about 5 minutes from a little store. We are looking forward to going again soon.

Kelsey's Paparazzi

Kelsey gets really tired of us always trying to take her picture.
She kept hiding from us at her band concert last night when she would see the camera pointed her way.

We know you still love us....even when were annoying.

Maritime Parade

Emily was in the circus club this year at school again. Sat. was the Maritime Parade that they always participate in. It was a lovely rainy Sat. We have been having beautiful weather up here in WA., something like 20+ days of sunshine.....so of course....it literally rained on our parade. I was a bad mom and didn't listen to the instructions of the time we were supposed to be there. We were there way to early last year.....so I thought we could probably show up a little later this year. Well, I was wrong. The traffic was horrible. Emily and I parked over a mile away and made a run for it to get in line for the parade. Of course I was ill prepared to be having to run, wearing flip flops in the rain. Emily's shoes were quite muddy and my feet were all gross with gritty road sludge and my pants were wet to my shins....but hey....we made it right? These are the things that make events memorable....sort of.

It still is a beautiful place.... even on a misty, rainy parade morning. Did I forget to mention that I fell over a fallen unicycle right in the middle of the parade?
