Happy 7th Birthday Mr. Jacob!

Tonight we had a BBQ for Jacob's 7th Birthday. I really can't believe he is 7, it seem's like he was just born a couple of years ago. Time is just going by to fast. Jacob and I sat the other night and looked at different cake pictures on the internet, and this was the one he decided he wanted...so this was my attempt at recreating his wish for a cake.
I think he was happy with it!!

Jack and Jacob.....Jack lives across the street from Nana & Papa. If these two boys could, I think that they would both just move in together with Nana and Papa.

Such a handsome young man!!!

This week I was offered a job working with an Optometrist as an optometric assistant. I started yesterday, and so far things seem to be going pretty smoothly. It is a nice little quiet office, and I only have to work 4 days a week from 10-5. It seems a little strange to be working again, it has only been ALMOST 11 years since I left the house to have to go to work. Papa had to add a little excitement to the end of my first day of work by having a fight with a ladder in the garage, and I have to say.....I think the ladder and the cement floor won. Jacob heard the thud, and Emily found Papa basically knocked out on the floor. Poor guy, he ended up with a concussion, black eye, and bruised bum! We are all very glad that he is ok......no more yearly excitement please!

Happy 4th of July!

We enjoyed a little parade of bikes through the neighborhood today. We decorated the kids bikes last night, (Kelsey thought she was to old to join in, so she walked with Mike and I.) We walked to the neighborhood park and had a BBQ. Thankfully the rain held off until later in the day....what would a 4th of July be in Washington without a little rain!

A very yummy potato salad I made today.
BLUE CHEESE POTATO SALAD
5 lbs. red potatoes - boiled until tender
1 lb. green beans - boiled until tender
Mix - 4 ounces softened cream cheese, 8 ounces of blue cheese dressing,
1 & 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 tsp. salt and pepper, 1 med. diced red onion, 3-6 minced cloves of garlic. Drain and cool potatoes and green beans - mix with dressing. Garnish with chives or dill. (I like to mix a little of the dill throughout the salad and sprinkle a little more on top.) Serves 8

We hope you all have a happy and safe 4th!!!
