YouTube Beauty 101

Emily really wanted to have some layers in her hair. It's really amazing anymore what you can find on the internet. I searched how to cut layers on google and found several different videos on cutting layers. The kids sure are pretty trusting of their mom. I think all three of the kids have only been to a salon 2-3 times in their lives, so maybe they trust me more than I trust myself. I think she looks pretty cute.

How many fans do you think wear a Seahawks helmet while doing homework?

Issaquah Salmon Hatchery

This weekend we went to the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery.

Some of the salmon were really big. Jacob really enjoyed watching them.

The salmon kept trying to jump over this wall, but there was a little opening along the side for them to swim in.

It's pretty amazing that these fish travel so far to return to their place of birth.

It's Soccer Time Again

Jacob had his first game of the season last Sat. He had to move up to a different team since he turned 8 this summer. He is the youngest on the team, with all the boys being in 4th grade except for Jacob and his buddy Roger, who are the only 3rd graders.
The boys had a scrimmage game against a girls team the first week, the team did very well scoring something like 10 goals. But this last week, our team got their little booties whipped by the other team. Hopefully it was just a fluke and next Sat. will be a little less painful to watch!

Little Buddies

Do you think they like each other just a little? (The down side of having pets always in the front window is the mess they make all over it.)

What's That Sound?

Last night after the kids had gone to bed we kept hearing this funny little sound in the kitchen. At first we thought maybe Mia had gotten locked in a cupboard, so Mike hopped up and opened a few doors and looked around for her. Nope, the noise wasn't her.

He made some toast and then sat back down. "Clink....Clink..pop..pop" went the sound again. He jumped up to check the toaster in case it was catching on fire....nope wasn't that.

"Clink..clink" went the sound again. Again Mike got up and looked around, he decided maybe it was just some dirty dishes settling in the sink. The noise kept happening for the next hour and we just kept wondering what in the world it was. I started to wonder if a mouse was running around in the house.

We got up to go to bed and Mike went into the kitchen to get our vitamins and he just starts laughing. The under mount kitchen sink was FALLING off from the counter!

Mike had taken today off from work to try and finish painting the outside of the house.....I guess he's going to be a plumber today instead.

Blackberry Season

Jacob and I went and picked wild blackberries the other night. The girls refused to go. They didn't want anyone from school seeing them picking a bunch of berries in a field. Kelsey said she didn't want to look like a hobo....but they sure helped eat the pies I made with them.

Jake

When I was pregnant with Kelsey, we had two names picked out....Kelsey and Jacob. We always liked the name, but knew at one point or another, our Jacob would probably turn into "Jake". (No, for those of you who knew me growing up, Jacob is NOT named after my Golden Retriever Jake. Although, I really loved that dog!)

At meet the teacher last week, Jacob informed his teacher he was "Jake". So I came home and labeled everything "Jake" for him. I knew this was coming.

When Mike was growing up, there would always be several Mikes in his class. In 4th grade Mike decided without telling his parents, that he was now going by "Tom". (His middle name is Thomas.) I've seen little pieces of art work his mom saved and it always cracks me up to see the "one" year he was "Tom".

Jacob is looking over my shoulder as I write this and he now is telling me he likes Jacob better than Jake.....go figure...he'll probably always, be Jacob to me.
