A Pirate, the Grim Reaper, and a Witch

This Halloween Mr. Jacob was the grim reaper, Miss Kelsey was a pirate, and Miss Emily was a lovely little witch.

They always have to count and check out what they were given, hopefully no new cavities.

Emily went out with her other little witch girl friends, and Kelsey was our candy dispenser.

The kids all carved their very own pumpkins this year.

Do you know that Mike has never carved a pumpkin before?

They were happy with their little pumpkins.

The trees are getting prettier on our street each day. We also had some little Franken Stein brownies to eat.

Somebody grew a little moustache at his class party.

I think tomorrow we will rest!

First Goal of the Season

Jacob kicked his first goal today for this years soccer season. It was one of those really cool goals where the ball flies through the air right past the goalie. Way to go Jacob!!!

Cookies and Sickness

I found a really good recipe for very yummy chocolate chip cookies on a blog called http://www.controllingmychaos.com/. They were very, very good!
For anyone who would like to try the recipe, it is definitely worth it.
Pre-heat oven to 350.
Cream together - 1 C. sugar, 1 C Brn. sugar, 1/3 C. shortening, 2/3 C. butter, 2 tsp vanilla
Add 2 eggs - don't over beat, mix until blended
Sift - 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 3 1/2 C. flour, add to mixture, again don't over beat.
Pour 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips into a separate bowl.
By rounded teaspoons press one cookie into chocolate chips, flattening out the cookie some. Place on un-greased cookie sheet, press down a little flatter. Press more chocolate chips into any empty spaces on cookies.
Bake for 8-11 minutes.
Caution....VERY MESSY....but VERY YUMMY! Let cool completely before storing.

Every one in our house seems to be ill with something at the moment. Emily came home from school today with the chills and a fever. (Zoey and Mia tried to keep her warm.)

After sharing his illness with everyone in the house, Jacob is back to his old self.

On another note, Kelsey was voted to be the 8th grader with the prettiest eyes for the year book. (I told her she could thank me for that, for some reason she wasn't amused.)

A Costume Only A Boy Would Love

Jacob is very ready for Halloween this year. He's had this costume on 3 times today and thinks it's quite funny to breathe heavy and chase the pets around in it.

Not Much To Blog About

We have had a pretty quiet month, with not much going on......
The pets are still as lazy as ever.

This Fall is one of the prettiest that I remember, the colors are just beautiful.

We've had a little bit too much pumpkin stuff to eat.

Jacob is home sick today with a persistent dry cough and aching arms. (Kind of wondering if I should be breathing the same air as him.) He is passing the time by playing video games and hanging out in his underwear.
